Chardonnay 2019 Premium wine profile
Tasting notes
Chardonnay 2019 has come from two different vineyards. One is on the top of a hill and the other is lower but still nearby. The structure and flavors are exceptional. The vintage was really exceptional. The somehow colder climate in comparison with previous years has contributed to the excellent wine. On the sight, the wine is straw yellow. The flavors resemble fresh and ripe fruits and gentle notes of acacia flowers and a buttery texture. It is gentle and harmonious it develops slowly and the taste lasts for quite a time. There are some hints of vanilla delivered from the aging in oak.
Vineyard notes
The vineyard “Breg” is a very sunny west-south facing slope. The combination of flysch and medium soils provides a great location for the grapes of Chardonnay. In the summer, being on the hill there is sunny and the medium-rich soil makes the vine in a perfect condition to deliver premium results. This vineyard is also specially managed by us with the use of different cover crops and different viticulture practices to ensure a very high quality of grapes. The vines are 35 years old and are trained in a special system developed by us for greater results in this area.
Production notes
The year 2019 was somehow cooler and there was more rain than usual. At the near-perfect moment. The harvest was at the right moment for near-perfect maturation of the grapes. It was a joy to harvest.
Winemaker notes
The grapes were in great condition, handpicked and in perfect ripeness. On the harvest day temperatures were low so there was no need to cool the grapes before de-stemming. After de-stemming the grapes were managed at controlled temperatures in the process of fermentation. The fermentation was under a controlled environment. The wine was in French and American barrique oak barrels. The completion of the malolactic fermentation ensured great stability and the perfect match of varietal character and smoothness. After balanced aging, the wine was bottled. Because of the excellent grapes, the wine is soft, fruity, and delicate with an aging potential of 3-5 years.
